How do I Customize Data Level access in Projects App?
Updated on December 27, 2022 02:23AM by Admin
The projects app helps to create and maintain projects provided by the clients. You can assign employees to keep track of all the projects. Also, provide data-level access for the employees with the projects.
Steps to Configure Data Level Access:
- Log in and access the Projects App from the universal navigation menu bar.
- Click on the More(...) icon and select Settings located at the app header bar.
- Click on the Access Level from the Security drop-down located at the left navigation panel.
- You can view the Project App Level Access dashboard.
- All - Everyone with access to the Projects App
- Employees - Specific employees.
- By default, the access is set for all. Everyone who has access to the Projects App can view and edit all the records.
Instance: When access is given to Employees
- If the View access is given as Employees, then the record can be viewed only by the Employee for whom the Project is assigned.
- If the Edit access is given as Employees, then the record can be edited only by the Employee for whom the Project is assigned.
- Consider the access level is configured to give View Access to All but edit access to Employees. The below record’s Project Manager is Rose Jensen.
- When another Employee tries to access it, he will have access to view the record but not edit it.
Instance: When Exceptions are added
- Apart from specific employees, you can provide access to other users by enabling the Exception toggle. You can add other users by clicking on the "+" icon. It can be either employees or teams.
For Example: Consider the View Access and Edit Access are set as Employees with Larry Warran added as an Exception.
When Larry Warran tries to access the records that are assigned to other employees, he has the ability to edit them because of the exception. While other Employees do not have access to it.
