Patents are a right granted to an inventor that allows them to exclude all others from making, using, or selling their invention. In order to improve security, Apptivo has created the Access level function, which allows you to choose which people you want to provide access to the patents.
Steps to customize the access level:
- Log in and access the Patents app from the universal navigation menu bar.
- Click on the More(...) icon and select Settings.
- On the Settings page, go to Security → Access Level.
- By default, the configuration is set for All. Everyone who has access to the Patents App can view and edit all the cases.
- When access is given to Employees. Only your employees who are assigned to the patents can access the patent information.
- For instance, Rose Jensen is assigned to the patent “Beverage Bottle”.
- Now, Rose Jensen has access only to the “Patent: Beverage Bottle” as shown below.
- Now, when another employee, Larry Warran who doesn’t have access to that record tries to view it. He would not have access as the patent is assigned to another Employee.
