How do you set up an approval workflow in Timesheets?

Timesheets App enables you to keep track of the man-hours of your Employees. This is helpful to convert the working hours to invoices and avoid any disputes. The Timesheet app has the feature to send the Timesheet for approval on submission. The Timesheet will be submitted to the Managers.
You can set your Timesheets for two types of Approval.
- Employee’s Manager Approval
- Customer Approval
Employee’s Manager Approval
Let us consider creating a new Timesheet in the Timesheets App and send it for Approval to the Employee’s Manager.
- By default, the approver will be set as Employee’s Manager when you create a Timesheet.
- You can either select Create and then submit the Timesheet later from the Overview page or select Create & Submit to submit immediately. Here, I have selected Create & Submit.
- You will be redirected to Select Approval for this Timesheet page. Here, you can set the Approver as Employee Manager.
- On selecting Submit, you will be notified that the Timesheet is submitted to the Manager.
- An email will be generated to the Employee’s Manager, Caroline Forbes regarding the approval request.
- Click on View Timesheet. You will be redirected to the Timesheet page. You can approve or decline the Timesheet here.
- The Timesheet will get a notification on Approval or rejection.
- The record also will be marked as Approved in the Timesheets App.
Note: You can also approve a Timesheet by selecting My Employees Timesheets → Pending My Approval.
Customer Approval
Let us consider creating a new Timesheet in the Timesheets App and send it for Approval to the Customer.
- By default, the approver will be set as Employee’s Manager when you create a Timesheet.
- You can either select Create and then submit the Timesheet later from the Overview page or select Create & Submit to submit immediately. Here, I have selected Create & Submit.
- You will be redirected to Select Approval for this Timesheet page. Here, you can set the Approver as Customer Project Manager and add the email address.
- On selecting Submit, you will be notified that the Timesheet is submitted to the Customer.
- An email will be generated to the Customer, Fredrick regarding the approval request.
- Click on View Timesheet. You will be redirected to the Timesheet page. The customer can approve or decline the Timesheet here.
- The Timesheet will get a notification on Approval or rejection.
- The record also will be marked as Approved in the Timesheets App.
